How this all got started:

In early November Mom was visiting her brother and his family in Las Vegas and started to not feel well.  She went to an Urgent Care in Las Vegas and they told her that it was probably her gall bladder.  They had already planned to go to San Diego and so she went with them but started feeling worse on the trip there.  Once they got there she was really sick and decided she needed to come home.  We got her a flight home that night and she went to the ER in Tooele.  They ran some tests and then told her to follow up with Dr. Forbes.  The ultrasound that was done for the gallbladder was inconclusive and so they decided to do more tests to try and conclude if the gallbladder was the issue.  A CT scan was done and the results showed that she had an enlarged spleen (nothing to do with the gallbladder).
Dr. Forbes ordered a spleen biopsy and the results came back stating a concern of Lymphoma.  Dr. Forbes helped set up an appointment with an Oncologist (Dr. Chandramouli, we will refer to him as Dr. C for obvious reasons).  The first appointment with Dr. C was on 12/19 in Salt Lake City.  This clinic is awesome, even though we were there to talk about cancer they didn’t make you feel that way. My mom and I were very impressed with the entire office staff.  A Physician’s Assistant came in first and did a complete history and physical, then Dr. C came in to talk about the steps to take next.  His advice was to have the spleen removed in order to determine what we were really dealing with.
Mom had her spleen removed on 1/9 at IMC in Salt Lake by Dr. Rasmussen.  The surgery went well and they were able to remove her spleen with a laparoscope even though it was quite enlarged.   She only had to stay in the hospital for 2 days and has 2 scars.
