Ready for Chemo?

Mom made it through the week.  She had a pet scan, a bone marrow biopsy, an echocardiogram, and the port-a-cath.  The worst by far was the port-a-cath.  Kari took her in, she was told to be there at 8:30 and they would start the procedure at 9.  They didn't end up leaving the hospital until almost 4.  Mom's veins aren't good anyway, and after all she's been through in the last few months they are probably worse.  She was told to fast the night before and so not having any water in her system.  They finally got the IV in and did it in her hand. The nurse told Kari.."it is what it is, she has bad veins"...I guess that summed it up. The port-a-cath is in and Mom is sore but it needed to be done in order to start Chemo tomorrow.

(I am shocked Kari was even able to take a picture of this...she doesn't handle blood or needles very well)

Mom came over a few weekends ago to watch a movie and Carter insisting on snuggling instead of going to bed.

Once we found out that Mom had to have Chemo I thought it'd be fun to have a "head shaving" party...well Carter went first!  He loves you very much Grandma!
